With 16 projects proposed along the East Coast, and more likely to follow, the US could see thousands of turbines clustered near its shorelines. Offshore wind is a pillar of President Biden’s climate strategy as he tries to decrease emissions and increase jobs.

The Boston renewable energy insurance startup provides a credit insurance policy covering payment default risk to commercial and utility-scale renewable energy projects. The company has insured more than 160 sites for a total of over $70 million thus far.

 

New Hampshire’s biggest rooftop solar array is just the beginning

The largest rooftop solar array in New Hampshire was unveiled last month, and while it is the biggest in the state, it also shows how far New Hampshire has to go. If the same array was being unveiled in Maine it would add only one-half of one percent to statewide capacity. In Vermont, just one-third of one percent. And in Massachusetts it would hardly be noticed.

 

Maine has applied for a federal lease for an offshore wind project. It’s a milestone in Governor Mills’ plan to jump-start the industry.

A big milestone this month for Gov. Janet Mills' plan to jump-start an offshore wind energy industry in Maine: She's submitted to federal regulators a proposal for a 15-square mile area off Maine's mid-coast where up to 12 floating turbines might be sited.
