Wind power experts expect wind energy costs to decline up to 35% by 2035

Technology and commercial advancements are expected to continue to drive down the cost of wind energy, according to a survey led by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) of the world’s foremost wind power experts. Experts anticipate cost reductions of 17%-35% by 2035 and 37%-49% by 2050, driven by bigger and more efficient turbines, lower capital and operating costs, and other advancements.

Sugarbush Resort’s Mount Ellen powered by solar

Sugarbush has completed a solar field at Lincoln Peak in partnership with Green Lantern Solar, part of a six-array system that powers all of Mount Ellen’s operations, or 41% of the resort's total operation. Connecticut should accelerate energy storage deployment to benefit consumers and the environment

The Connecticut General Assembly is considering legislation (Senate Bill 952) to ensure deployment of 1,000 megawatts of energy storage capacity by the end of 2030—enough to power about 1 million homes.

Cohoes reservoir could be a floating solar power pioneer

The city’s 10-acre reservoir would be mostly covered with 8,000 solar panels to create the nation’s largest municipally owned floating solar array. “Floating photovoltaics (PV) remain a nascent technology in the United States, but their use has caught on overseas where space for ground-mounted systems is less available,” National Renewable Energy Laboratory said in September.
