DOE invests $74 million for energy performance projects

Initiative could move several large Maine electricity users to solar power
A consortium of Maine businesses, the University of Maine and, possibly, the city of Portland could band together to procure a glut of solar energy that could power as many as 40,000 homes.

Massachusetts Senate passes 'Next-Generation Climate Policy' act
The Massachusetts state senate passed "An Act Setting Next Generation Climate Policy," which sets a goal of net-zero emissions by 2050 and establishes a Climate Policy Commission to oversee the government's handling of the climate crisis, according to the Framingham Source. The bill now moves to the house.

Hawaii is a test bed to see if renewables can meet peak energy demands

UPS adds to alternative fuel investments with 2 more renewable natural gas deals
UPS is again upping its ante on renewable natural gas. UPS said recently that it entered into a pair of multi-year RNG deals — with Kinetrex Energy and TruStar Energy — that supply UPS with up to 80 million gallon equivalents of RNG, according to a news release.
